Healing takes Time

With time comes progress…. even if it doesn’t feel like it right away. The truth is, healing – or change of any kind – isn’t linear. Chiropractic care gets to the underlying cause of many conditions – but it also takes time. Many people walk into our office that have been struggling with chronic pain for years and have been taking pain relievers daily, have had multiple steroid injections, and have tried just about everything with no help. Sometimes they have even opted for back surgery only to have the pain come back.It is important how you handle setbacks. Sometimes a setback happens because of something external – as in something that re-aggravates an injury or condition. Many people have had many different types of injuries and trauma to the body whether they are small or large that are left untreated. Injuries and traumas cause musculoskeletal imbalances in the body which our muscles, ligaments and spine have to compensate for. When a person is in pain, it may come from an area in the body that was injured many years ago. The chiropractor’s job is to find areas in the body that are not functioning optimally due to past injuries and to adjust those specific areas in the spine to help the body initiate the healing process.Often times when we begin to get better we forget about self care.It is common to rush the healing process and do too much, too soon. Regular chiropractic care has been shown time and time again to decrease all types of pain… neck and back pain, headaches, sciatica, numbness and tingling, muscle cramps and more. Chiropractors work to help promote healing of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. This can take time. Caring for or supporting your adjustment is not only your chiropractor’s job. You, too, with your chiropractors guidance, need to take responsibility and do what you can to maintain the adjustments you receive. Doing so will help expedite the body’s healing process. A spinal column and spinal cord that are in the proper position provide optimal performance for your entire body. Chiropractic is a drugless, natural approach that allows the body to heal the way it is intended to. Any positive and lasting change in the body takes time. Regular chiropractic care has been shown to reduce pain and improve a person’s overall quality of life. Chiropractic works, but it takes time and commitment for the body to heal and get better.

“Chiropractic is unique among the healing professions…. there isn’t a drug in the whole world that can move a hard bone off a soft tender nerve.”
